Chancel Choir Wants to Hear You Sing

It is hard to believe that we are a full month into the year 2017. With the temperatures changing constantly from cold to hot and vice versa, it is hard to keep track of what season we are in! Despite the confusion, we are indeed up and running with all of the ministries at St. John's. We are currently recruiting all voice parts (especially Sopranos and Tenors) for the Chancel Choir. No longer is it the time to come up with excuses of why you CAN'T sing in choir-- it's time to come up with reasons why you CAN sing! We are not looking for perfect singers-- just people who are willing to give it their best and join into a community of people who love and support each other. In conclusion, we want each one of you to come join choir, and join your voices together in leading worship! Please contact Caleb with any questions at  caleb@stjohnsumc.cc.

St. John's Chancel Choir wants you!

Do you find yourself singing to yourself at embarrassing times? Maybe it's in the shower, in the car with the windows rolled down enjoying a nice ballad, or maybe you're that person at work that puts headphones in and doesn't think anyone can hear them signing along? Why not share this amazing talent with people who actually WANT to hear you sing? Maybe this doesn't describe you, but really reminds you of someone in your life that needs a little encouragement to use their talents. Either way come join us, or have your friends come join us on Wednesday nights from 7-8:30 for Chancel Choir! We are always accepting new members! Contact Caleb for more information.

Know any good songs about leaving?

Friends and neighbors, Many or most of you are aware of the following news, but some are not.  So, I wanted to take this chance to fill in any who have not heard: I will be leaving my role as Director of Music Ministries at St. John’s in August in order to enter a M.M. program for choral conducting at Westminster Choir College in Princeton, NJ.  August 10 will be my last Sunday. I am excited for the new opportunity, but I am sad to be leaving the home I have found here at St. John’s.  Nearly seven years ago, this congregation showed a cynical preacher’s kid what God’s love could really do in the local church, and I am indebted to all of you for the countless ways you have helped me grow musically, spiritually, and personally. Beyond my own bittersweet sentiments, allow me to say how eager I am for St. John’s to experience the new ideas and energy that will come with your next Music Director.  Just as God has blessed me personally through this congregation and its ministries these past several years, I trust that God will continue to bless this church and this community through St. John’s music ministries for years to come. Grace and peace and cheers, Justin
